Leaving Perth

I spent my last few days in Perth relaxing, revisiting my favourite spots i.e. the beach and the shops! Went back up to Kings Park to admire the views and wandered around the Botanic Garden. Went shopping in the city and was bemused by the Christmas decorations everywhere - and a huge Christmas tree in the middle of the square. Was very strange to wander around it in the blistering heat, eating an ice cream!

I leave for Melbourne this afternoon, so when Anne-Marie and Mike returned from their night shifts this morning, they took me for a last slap-up breakfast at a cafe by the beach. At the next table along from us sat an old man with a hook nose, whom Mike identified as Barry Humphries aka Dame Edna Everage. In his sleep-deprived state Mike found this hilariously funny and proceeded to text everyone he knew to tell them. For some reason, not all his English friends seemed to appreciate being woken up at 2 in the morning UK time to digest this nugget of celebrity gossip, I can't think why not.

Am sad to leave the beautiful beaches of Perth behind, especially as it's apparently raining in Melbourne, yuck!
