Happy New Year!

Gosh it’s a tough life. I spent New Year watching the midnight fireworks display over Sydney Harbour Bridge from the balcony of a friend’s apartment in Balmain. Oh, actually that was the second round of fireworks – they had a kind of warm-up session for the kids at 9pm, in itself absolutely stunning, which we watched from our champagne picnic in the park by the water’s edge. Anyway, it turns out that, as well as being annoyingly good at cricket, the Aussies are also very talented pyrotechnicians. The spectacular displays really made the evening special.
