The Biscuit Tin

A friend of a friend had incredibly kindly offered me the use of his room in a shared house in Brisbane whilst he was away on holiday. The house, nicknamed "The Biscuit Tin" for reasons I never ascertained, is a huge house overlooking the river in Saint Lucia, an affluent suburb of Brisbane near the University of Queensland, where several of the housemates are studying. I had a fantastic couple of days exploring the shopping malls, cafes and gardens of central Brisbane, and was amazingly well looked after by the other housemates, who seemed totally unperturbed by the arrival of a random pom! They took me along with them to various house parties, visited their favourite restaurants and ice-cream parlours and we even did a beach trip up to the Sunshine Coast for some swimming and sunbathing.

On Sunday evening, I drove over to visit a friend from university, who emigrated to Australia over a year ago. We had a lovely evening catching up over dinner at her cute, beachhouse-style apartment overlooking the ocean, although we were treated to a tropical storm of thunder, lightning and torrential rain which hammered down on the tin roof.

Just arrived in Sydney now and off to explore!
